Monsoon rains between June and September, which are vital to South Asia's agriculture, displace millions of people annually. However, this year's flooding is particularly devastating. Flooding in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal have displaced millions of people and caused more than a billion dollars in damage. The international scope of this year's floods have made it hard for governments to respond adequately. To assist those in need, Give2Asia has launched the 2014 Monsoons Disaster Recovery Fund. Canaan Disability Home (CDH) is a non-profit social welfare organization established to safeguard the dignity and respect of the impoverished and the disabled in Taiwan. CDH has been providing long term care for the disabled through social welfare counseling, occupational training and community service since 2007. With over 460 impoverished disabled in Pingtung county waiting for placement in disabled homes; the board chairman of CDH donated land for the NEST expansion project, which is to construct a new disability care center with 80 bed capacity.
